Introducing the SCCQ
Spiritual Care is a shared responsibility of physicians, nurses, psychotherapists, chaplains, and other health professionals. It considers patients’ spiritual needs, options, resources, etc.
To assess a person´s spiritual needs, specific competences to perceive, communicate and address a person´s spiritual and existential needs are required. To assess these needs in a standardized way, one may use the 20-item Spiritual Needs Questionnaire or a short Spiritual History taking.
The required competences could be trained, i.e., in a special 2021-2023 in Vienna.
